Ron Wyden, U.S. Senate, UO Law J.D. 1974.

Oregon's senior United States Senator, Ron Wyden served in the U.S. Congress for 15 years before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996. In 2004 he received the University of Oregon School of Law's Meritorious Service Award. Senator Wyden graduated from Stanford University before studying at Oregon. More.

Cynthia Whitehead, Mobilization for the Environment, Brussels, Belgium, UO Law J.D. 1976.

Graduated in 1976 from the University of Oregon School of Law. Based in Belgium, Cynthia has also worked on environmental law projects in Albania, Bhutan, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan/Central Asia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Russian Federation, and Turkey.

Richard A. Parrish, Southern Environmental Law Center, UO Law J.D. 1980.

Rick is a Senior Attorney at SELC, working on water pollution issues. Rick graduated with honors in 1974 from the University of California at Davis, where he majored in renewable natural resources, and graduated with honors in 1980 from the University of Oregon School of Law.

Gail Small, Native Action, Montana, UO Law J.D. 1982.

Gail is Founding Executive Director of Native Action, establishing national precedents in federal banking law, environmental policy, Indian voter discrimination and youth law. She is a former elected member of the Tribal Council of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Tribe. She won Ms. Magazine's 1995 Gloria Steinem Women of Vision Award, and was named a Kellogg National Fellow. Derb S. Carter, Jr., Southern Environmental Law Center, UO Law J.D. 1980.

Derb worked for the National Wildlife Federation before joining SELC. He received the National Wetlands Award in 2000 and was named North Carolina's 2004 Conservationist of the year. Before law school he graduated in 1975 with honors in biology from the University of North Carolina.

Aaron Isherwood, Sierra Club, UO Law J.D. 1994.

Aaron is the Coordinating Attorney for the Environmental Law Program for the Sierra Club. Aaron decided to go to law school when he learned from a prominent forest activist that court injunctions have saved more ancient forests than tree spikes. Previously, Aaron clerked for the Oregon Supreme Court.

Patricia Sharkey, McGuireWoods, LLP, Chicago, UO Law J.D. 1980.

Pat advises and litigates for private corporations. She works on corporate policy and procedures and represents clients on environmental rulemaking and permits. After graduating from the University of Oregon Law School she worked for the Illinois Pollution Control Board before entering private practice.

W. Robert Irvin, Defenders of Wildlife, UO Law J.D. 1983.

Bob is Senior Vice President for Conservation Programs for Defenders. He formerly worked at World Wildlife Fund and on the staff of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He is Co-Editor of a book on the Endangered Species Act. He was Co-Director of the first Public Interest Environmental Law Conference in 1983.

Mary G. (Molly) Holt, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, UO Law J.D. 1984.

As Senior Attorney, Molly works on international issues, salmon, marine sanctuaries, coastal management, energy development, and Native American rights. She received a Gold Medal from the Secretary of Commerce in 1997 and the 1998 NOAA Administrator's Award. Molly previously worked in the California Attorney General's Office. She also attended Brown University.

Lawrence Sanders, Turner Environmental Law Clinic, Emory University, UO Law J.D. 1994.

In September 2008, Larry was appointed by Emory Law Dean David F. Partlett to serve as the director of the Turner Environmental Law Clinic for the 2008-09 academic year. In a recent press release from Emory, Larry said, "Over the next year, the Clinic's ongoing work on nuclear power will continue as our primary focus. I also hope to continue working on cutting edge environmental law issues like global climate change, energy, water rights, and protection of endangered species." Larry served as the staff attorney for the Turner Environmental Law Clinic for six years litigating for citizens and environmental organizations under the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and state water laws. He founded and was the director of RiverLaw at the South Yuba River Citizens League in California. He is also a graduate of the University of Chicago.

Donald Hornstein. University of North Carolina, UO Law J.D. 1981.

Don, a Distinguished Professor of Law, is a widely published scholar. In 1996-97, Hornstein taught at the University of Asmara in Eritrea, Africa, as a Fulbright Scholar. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles before studying in Oregon.

Jay Manning, Washington State Department of Ecology, UO Law J.D. 1983.

As DOE Director, Jay oversees 1,400 employees. He has previously represented private businesses and municipalities, worked with Indian tribes and environmental organizations, and formerly was chief of the Ecology Division of the Washington State Attorney General's Office. At UO, he was Co-Director of the first Public Interest Environmental Law Conference in 1983.
